Spathiphyllum Bellini — Moonflower — Ø24 cm — H100 cm
🌿 Elegant white flowers • ☀️ Partial shade to low light • 💧 Moderate watering • 🌬️ Powerful air purifier • 🌟 Large, easy tropical plant
The Spathiphyllum Bellini, also known as the Peace Lily, is a large, spectacular tropical plant, recognized for its elegant white spathe-shaped flowers and shiny dark green foliage. This fascinating plant regularly produces beautiful white flowers that emerge above the lush foliage and add a touch of purity and elegance to your urban jungle.
Native to the tropical forests of Central and South America, the Spathiphyllum is a perennial plant from the Araceae family that has become one of the most popular indoor plants worldwide thanks to its ease of care and exceptional air-purifying ability. Its white flowers are not true flowers but spathes (modified bracts) that surround the floral spike and remain decorative for several weeks. With its current height of 100 cm and pot diameter of 24 cm, it becomes a large, imposing, and purifying tropical plant in your urban jungle, perfect for creating an elegant focal point and bringing a strong plant presence while purifying your indoor air.
Which Spathiphyllum variety to choose?
Verdeia offers several Spathiphyllum varieties suited to different spaces and needs. Here’s how to choose yours:
- Bellini (100 cm) — The variety you are currently viewing. Imposing size, generous flowering, perfect for creating a spectacular focal point in large spaces.
- Sweet Sebastiano (110 cm) — The largest in our collection, ideal for very large spaces and grand entrances.
- Sweet Silvana (80 cm) — Intermediate size, perfect for medium spaces like living rooms and offices.
- Vivaldi (70 cm) — Compact and elegant size, ideal for smaller spaces while maintaining a beautiful presence.
- Torelli (65 cm) — Compact variety with dense foliage, perfect for small spaces and offices.
All our Spathiphyllum varieties share the same qualities: very easy to care for, tolerate shade, and exceptionally purify the air. The choice mainly depends on the size of your space.
Exposure & placement
The Spathiphyllum Bellini is one of the few indoor plants that perfectly tolerates low-light spaces. It can even bloom in the shade, making it an ideal plant for dark rooms.
- Exposure: partial shade to low light, tolerates deep shade.
- Ideal: living room, bedroom, office, bathroom, entrance, even in low-light rooms.
- Temperature: 18 to 27 °C, without sudden changes.
- Substrate: light, airy, and well-drained (green plant potting soil + perlite).
Verdeia tip: the Spathiphyllum signals when it is thirsty — its leaves droop slightly, then quickly straighten after watering.
Watering & care
- Watering: moderate; let the top 2-3 cm of the substrate dry out between waterings.
- Frequency: about 1-2 times per week in spring-summer, reduce in winter.
- Drainage: essential — use a pot with holes and a saucer.
- Humidity: prefers 50-60% humidity, regularly mist the leaves.
- Fertilizer: every 2-3 weeks in spring-summer with a diluted liquid fertilizer to encourage flowering.
- Winter rest: reduce watering and fertilizing in autumn-winter.
- Pruning: remove faded flowers and dead or yellowed leaves at the base.
- Cleaning: gently wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to preserve their shiny glow.
Observe the leaves: if they fall, the plant is thirsty; if they yellow, you are watering too much.
Decor ideas & plant pairings
With its elegant white flowers and imposing size, the Spathiphyllum Bellini instantly becomes a soothing and purifying centerpiece. Its white flowers bring a touch of purity and serenity to any space.
- To pair with: Monstera, Philodendron, Calathea, Ficus, or other tropical plants to create a lush urban jungle.
- Ideal pot: matte ceramic decorative pot (white, light gray, terracotta) or woven basket to highlight the white flowers.
- Ambiance: perfect as a feature in a living room corner, bedroom, office, bathroom, or entrance to create an elegant and soothing focal point.
Its ability to purify the air makes it an ideal plant for bedrooms and offices.
