Nepenthes ‘Gaya’ — Tropical carnivorous plant

🌞 Bright light without direct sun • 💧 Moist substrate • 🪴 Moderate care • 🪰 Hanging carnivorous plant

The Nepenthes ‘Gaya’ is a tropical hybrid variety resulting from the cross between Nepenthes khasiana and Nepenthes ventricosa. It charms with its elongated pitchers in warm shades of red and green, which naturally capture insects and give a unique exotic look to your space.

Delivered in Ø12 cm for an approximate height of 17 cm, this compact Nepenthes easily adapts to indoor bright culture or a temperate greenhouse. Hanging or placed high, it attracts all eyes.

Exposure & location

The Nepenthes ‘Gaya’ enjoys bright light without direct sun. It thrives in a bright room near an east or north-facing window. Constant humidity is essential to keep its pitchers well formed.

  • Exposure: bright indirect light or bright partial shade.
  • Ideal: hanging, bright windowsill, bright bathroom, or veranda.
  • Temperature: between 18 and 28 °C, avoid cold drafts.
  • Substrate: mix of sphagnum, blonde peat, and perlite, without fertilizer.

Verdeia tip: the more humid the air, the more the pitchers develop — lightly mist the foliage on dry days.

Watering & care

  • Water: only rainwater or demineralized water.
  • Frequency: keep the substrate constantly moist, without stagnant excess water.
  • Humidity: about 60–80% ambient humidity to promote pitchers.
  • Fertilizer: unnecessary, Nepenthes feeds on insects.
  • Pruning: remove dry pitchers to stimulate growth.
  • Repotting: every 1 to 2 years in spring, in fresh and airy substrate.

Use a decorative pot with a perforated bottom to promote aeration and avoid excess water at the bottom of the pot.

Decor ideas & plant pairings

Its trailing habit and colorful pitchers make it a spectacular plant in a hanging pot or on a high shelf. Perfect to bring a lively tropical touch to your interior.

  • To pair with: Dionaea muscipula, Drosera capensis, or Sarracenia psittacina for a mini carnivorous collection.
  • Ideal pot: matte ceramic or light hanging pot in natural fiber.
  • Ambiance: perfect in an urban jungle with contemporary tropical style.

Place it high to highlight the natural fall of its colorful pitchers.

Verdeia tips

  • Regularly mist its foliage to maintain sufficient humidity.
  • Avoid dry or overheated rooms: it prefers warm humidity.
  • Never give it fertilizer or manual food.
  • Place it in a hanging pot or on a shelf to showcase its pitchers.
  • Ensure bright indirect light to keep its vibrant colors.

Each plant being unique, slight differences in shape, foliage, or shade may exist — that is what makes them so charming!

What are the delivery times and conditions?

You receive a tracking link as soon as the package is dispatched.

What to do upon receiving my plant?

Open your package upon receipt, carefully remove the plant from its packaging and let it acclimate for 24 hours in its new environment before watering it.

If it has slightly suffered from transport, it will quickly regain its shape after one or two days in the light.

Can I put this plant outside?

It depends on the species. Most indoor plants prefer a bright place without direct sunlight, while outdoor plants like more direct light.

Refer to the exposure advice in the product description to know if it is suitable for a balcony, a terrace, or indoors.

What to do if my plant arrives damaged?

If your plant appears to have suffered during transport, contact us within 48 hours with a photo of the problem.

Our team will take the time to assess the situation and find the best solution: replacement, partial refund, or recovery advice.

Your satisfaction and the health of your plant remain our priority 🌿.
