Schefflera actinophylla ‘Amate’ — Ø24 cm — H100 cm
🌿 Luxuriant tropical foliage • ☀️ Partial shade / Bright interior • 💧 Moderate watering • 🪴 Air-purifying & graphic
The Schefflera actinophylla ‘Amate’, also called the umbrella plant, is a majestic tropical plant native to Australia and New Guinea. With its large shiny leaves arranged in an umbel, it instantly evokes a tropical and serene atmosphere. Its slender form and density make it a perfect centerpiece to structure an urban interior and bring greenery to a bright corner.
Appreciated for its resistance and air-purifying ability, the Schefflera ‘Amate’ is ideal for lovers of large exotic-looking plants. It adds a natural and elegant touch to modern apartments as well as workspaces.
Exposure & location
The Schefflera ‘Amate’ enjoys bright environments without direct sunlight. It tolerates partial shade and adapts well to bright interiors, even with filtered light. Avoid placing it in full sun, especially behind glass.
- Exposure: partial shade to bright interior.
- Ideal: spacious living room, bright entrance, workspace or relaxation corner.
- Temperature: between 18 and 26 °C, without cold drafts.
- Substrate: rich, slightly acidic, well-drained potting soil.
Verdeia tip: rotate the plant regularly for harmonious growth and balanced foliage throughout its height.
Watering & care
- Watering: moderate, about once a week. Let the top layer of substrate dry out between waterings.
- Drainage: essential to avoid excess water and yellowing leaves.
- Fertilizer: a balanced liquid fertilizer every 2 to 3 months in spring and summer.
- Cleaning: dust the leaves with a damp cloth to maintain their shine.
- Pruning: cut back overly long or bare stems to stimulate new growth.
In winter, reduce watering and maintain a stable temperature to prevent leaf drop.
Decor ideas & plant pairings
Thanks to its elegant silhouette and large shiny leaves, the Schefflera ‘Amate’ perfectly structures modern spaces and brings a tropical breath to an urban decor. It pairs ideally with natural materials like light wood, rattan, or stone.
- To pair with: Ficus lyrata, Monstera deliciosa or Zamioculcas for a sophisticated jungle vibe.
